Ted Doolittle
A Blind Actor Prepares

Seeking a career (a calling) as a professional actor, deteriorating eyesight led to a diagnosis that pulled me from the stage. Years of depression and job struggles later, step by step I returned to the avocation as a professional actor. “A Blind Actor Prepares” (begun in 2017 and still a work in progress)is my journey from the initial calling and dream, through my self-imposed exile, to my return and how I manage the stage and screen while visually impaired.

Bio
I was born in London England to military parents and have lived in PA, DC/VA, Japan, NE, MO and TX. My mom still lives in St. Louis and my heart is in Nebraska where I graduated from Bellevue East High School. I received a BFA in theatre from Baylor University, love sports (especially NE football, Baylor football & men’s and women’s basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball). I’ve been married to my beautiful wife since 1989 and we have one daughter born in 1997 and adopted from China in 1998. I currently work as the Business Administration Manager for the in-house Audio Visual company at Houston’s Convention Center.
