In his latest class, “Discover the Story Amidst the Facts” Jerry describes story structure, then shows and encourages the writer to determine a particular time frame of one’s life about which to write. As well, he teaches the writer how to find and balance the inner and outer stories of one’s life in the writing.
His all inclusive approach presents not only guidelines to improve the writer’s craft, but also offers perspectives for the writer to consider from the reader’s viewpoint and expectation.
This four session class is smoothly finished off with thoughts on how to get people to read to the end of your book- a “can’t do without” insight!
Jerry’s class is complete with detailed notes and practical assignments which are reviewed at the start of each subsequent class providing continuity while constructing a durable base and sound framework.
These valuable tools were communicated directly to each one of us, thanks to Jerry’s particular interest in each of his students and in their stories. His passion about memoir writing permeates the air, inspiring and motivating his student writers to bring their story alive.
The camaraderie of the class participants was additionally supportive and stimulating. What a delightful and productive way to spend an hour on a Tuesday evening at home.
Looking forward to the next one! –Flo
I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed Jerry’s workshop. He totally changed my perspective on memoir writing. With his guidance my stories have come alive and have the potential to become real page turners. My boring diary now has suspense and strong, interesting characters. Thanks for the great learning experience.
I really like your idea of concentrating on the three parts to a story. So often I take four or six weeks classes and then my story sits, not fully developed. I would love the opportunity to participate in another session. Yes, August on Tues evenings would be perfect for me.
Thanks again for a great four weeks, –Leona
I can’t rave enough about Jerry’s classes. My only suggestion for change would be for LONGER AND MORE CLASSES! He motivates and inspires. He is nonjudgmental attitudes combines with a generous amount of information. I strongly recommend taking as many workshops as he offers.

I thoroughly enjoyed Jerry’s class, and am looking forward to the next one he offers. He knows how to encourage a student. In his own subtle and gentle ways, he advised each of us about our writing. He became my stick to help me walk straight, while I was limping. –Smita J., M.D.
